OpenAI Suspends Bot Developer for Misuse in US Presidential Campaign

Key Points:
OpenAI has banned independent chatbot developers who created a bot mimicking Congressman Dean Phillips who is challenging Joe Biden for the Democratic party candidacy, marking its first action against misuse in a political campaign.
The bot, known as Dean.Bot, was developed by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs Matt Krisiloff and Jed Somers, who started a super PAC supporting Phillips.
The super PAC received $1 million from billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and contracted with AI start-up Delphi to build the bot.
OpenAI suspended the developer account, citing its rules that ban the use of its technology in political campaigns.
Dean.Bot, which had a disclaimer explaining that it was an AI tool, could converse with voters in real time through a website.
Our Point of View: The suspension of the bot developer emphasizes the importance of ethical guidelines in AI usage, particularly in sensitive areas like political campaigns.
Altman Plans to Raise Billions for AI Chip Factories
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, is reportedly planning to raise billions of dollars for a venture to establish a network of factories manufacturing AI chips. The project involves negotiations with several large potential investors, including Softbank and UAE-based AI company G42. The aim is to set up multiple semiconductor manufacturing factories globally. OpenAI has not yet responded to requests for comment on the plans.
X’s Platform Affected by Mislabeling Bug
X, formerly known as Twitter, recently experienced a bug that incorrectly labeled numerous posts as ‘Sensitive Media’. This issue, which occurred over the weekend, was a hindrance to the company’s efforts to make its platform more appealing to advertisers.
Today, a bug in our system caused X to incorrectly label numerous posts as Sensitive Media. We’ve fixed the underlying issue and are now working to remove labels from impacted posts.

The bug was reportedly caused by a spam bot, according to a post by Elon Musk, which contradicts the announcement made by X’s Safety account. The issue has since been resolved, and the team is currently working on removing the incorrect labels from the affected posts.
An 𝕏 spam/scam bot accidentally flagged many legitimate accounts today. This is being fixed.
