The lawsuit alleges that Apple has driven up prices for consumers and developers by imposing contractual restrictions on developers and withholding critical ways of accessing the phone to prevent competition. The DOJ claims that Apple’s actions have allowed it to extract higher prices from consumers, impose higher fees on developers, and throttle competitive alternatives from rival technologies.

The government is seeking to stop Apple from using its control of app distribution to undermine cross-platform technologies and from using private APIs to undermine cross-platform technologies like messaging, smartwatches, and digital wallets. The case has been filed in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Microsoft’s AI Copilot Deepens Integration with Windows

Microsoft is focusing on integrating its AI Copilot more deeply into Windows. The company announced this at a virtual event, which was primarily a hardware event with some enterprise software elements.

The integration includes a toggle in the Copilot experience on Windows 11 that allows users to switch between “Work” and “Web”. The “Work” button brings Microsoft 365 capabilities into the Windows interface.
